Description

Shimadzu's GCMS-TQ8040 NX is a triple quadrupole gas chromatograph-tandem mass spectrometer (GC-MS/MS) configured for accurate, user-friendly operation in routine analytical environments. It integrates features aimed at smart productivity, operation, and performance. The system is capable of analyzing over 400 compounds in a single multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) sequence without compromising sensitivity or selectivity. An MRM Optimization Tool facilitates the selection and optimization of transitions for numerous compounds within one analytical sequence. The instrument supports high-speed MRM acquisition at rates up to 800 transitions per second and can perform high-speed scanning at 20,000 u/sec. Method development is streamlined through the Smart Database Series, which provides automated, application-specific method creation for compounds such as pesticides, forensic toxicants, metabolites, and environmental pollutants. These databases contain pre-optimized MRM transitions, collision energies, and retention indices. A Smart MRM protocol automatically calculates optimal dwell and loop times for each method to maximize sensitivity. The system supports a Scan/MRM analysis mode, which allows for the simultaneous acquisition of full-scan spectra for library searching and MRM data for low-level quantification in a single injection. To maintain analytical consistency, the Automatic Adjustment of Retention Times (AART) function offers high accuracy (over 99.9%), reducing the need for manual retention time updates or flow rate adjustments. The ion source is front-accessible to simplify maintenance procedures. The instrument is designed to deliver performance across various analysis modes, including MRM, selected ion monitoring (SIM), full scan, and combination modes like Scan/MRM and Scan/SIM, as well as neutral loss, product ion scan, and precursor ion scan experiments.
