Description

The GCMS-QP2020 NX from Shimadzu is a single quadrupole gas chromatograph-mass spectrometer system. It incorporates a metal quadrupole mass filter with a pre-rod and offers a resolution range from 0.5 to 2.0 atomic mass units. The system supports multiple ionization techniques, including electron ionization (EI) and chemical ionization (CI) in both positive and negative modes. A key feature is a multi-function ion source that allows for front-access maintenance and includes a Quick-CI function for rapid switching to molecular ion observation. The mass analyzer is serviced by a high-capacity turbomolecular pump engineered for efficient operation with various carrier gases, including nitrogen. The system can achieve scan speeds up to 20,000 u/sec. Operational software provides tools for method development and data analysis, with specialized databases containing retention indices. The Twin-Line MS system configuration allows two capillary columns to be installed simultaneously for application switching. Additional functionalities include a Smart SIM mode for automated scheduled selected ion monitoring and an easy sTop feature that permits maintenance on the GC injector without venting the mass spectrometer.
