The Galaxy 48R is a direct-heat CO2 incubator from Eppendorf, offering a 48-liter internal workspace. It is engineered to maintain stable conditions for cell culture applications, including cancer and stem cell research. A key feature is its fan-less design, which eliminates a potential source of contamination and vibration. Temperature control ranges from 4°C above ambient room temperature up to 50°C. The internal chamber dimensions are 401 mm wide by 308 mm deep by 401 mm high, with an external footprint of 484 mm by 475 mm. Uniformity is achieved through gentle convection from a six-sided direct-heating system, avoiding the fluctuations associated with forced-air designs. An infrared CO2 sensor provides precise gas level monitoring, independent of humidity variations. The unit includes an advanced LCD controller for operation and a sealed inner glass door for viewing samples without disrupting the chamber environment. An optional oxygen control module is available for hypoxic culture work.
