Description
Edinburgh Instruments Ltd's FS5 v2 is a spectrofluorometer configured for high-sensitivity fluorescence measurements. The instrument uses a 150-watt continuous-wave, ozone-free xenon arc lamp as its standard light source; an alternative UV-enhanced lamp that generates ozone is optionally available. It covers a broad excitation spectral range, from wavelengths shorter than 230 nm up to 1000 nm. The emission detection range extends from 200 nm to beyond 870 nm, with a stated wavelength accuracy of ±0.5 nm. A photon-counting detection method is employed to achieve a high signal-to-noise ratio, facilitating the measurement of low-intensity signals. The FS5 v2 can function as a basic fluorometer or be expanded with modular accessories for more advanced applications, including time-resolved studies and quantum yield determinations. Sample holders are interchangeable and are automatically recognized by the system. Control and data acquisition are managed through dedicated software. An optional detector can extend the emission detection range into the near-infrared, up to 2050 nm.
