Frontier® Acela™ Ducted Fume Hood (EFA)

Description

The Frontier Acela Ducted Fume Hood, designated as model EFA by Esco Technologies, is a laboratory containment system designed for efficient and safe operation. It is available in multiple widths, with standard external dimensions of 35.4 inches in depth and 55.1 inches in height, plus a base cabinet. Width options include 48, 60, 72, and 96 inches. The corresponding interior workspace measures 26.6 inches deep by 48.4 inches high, with interior widths of 39, 51, 63, and 87 inches, respectively. A key operational feature is its adjustable face velocity, which can be set between 60 and 100 feet per minute (0.30 to 0.50 m/s). Operating at the lower end of this range can reduce energy consumption by decreasing the volume of exhaust and replacement air required. The hood is certified to meet ASHRAE 110 and EN14175 standards at 100 fpm and is UL-1805 listed. Its design incorporates aerodynamic features such as an airfoil at the sash perimeter and a perforated rear baffle to promote stable, unidirectional airflow and enhance containment. Additional functional elements include a tapered exhaust collar, a 5-degree sloped front work surface, an integrated armrest, and a creep-down sash mechanism. The interior can be configured with specialized materials for general use, acid digestion, or radioisotope handling.
