OHAUS's Frontier 5306 is a compact, benchtop mini centrifuge for quick processing of small-volume samples. It achieves a maximum speed of 6,000 rpm, generating a relative centrifugal force (RCF) of up to 2000 x g. The unit is supplied with a rotor that holds 8 tubes of either 1.5 mL or 2.0 mL capacity. Using included adapters, this rotor can also be configured for 0.2 mL and 0.5 mL tubes. For PCR applications, an optional 4-place rotor is available to accommodate 8-strip tubes or 32 individual 0.2 mL PCR tubes. With dimensions of 5.9 x 6.6 x 5 inches, the Frontier 5306 has a minimal footprint, making it suitable for crowded workstations or use within laminar flow hoods. It is characterized by straightforward operation and relatively quiet performance, serving as a practical tool for routine quick-spin tasks in molecular biology and general laboratory work.
