Description

The EXTRACTMAX is an automated platform for sample preparation that combines robotic liquid handling with magnetic bead-based separation. It integrates the pipetting automation of the PIPETMAX system with magnetic processing technology. A central component is its magnetic head, which uses a disposable bead capture strip designed to isolate magnetic beads and prevent cross-contamination between samples. The system can process up to four samples simultaneously using a dedicated plate that holds samples, wash buffers, and elution reagents. It utilizes Exclusion-based Sample Preparation (ESP) technology, which aims to isolate target molecules, like protein complexes, with minimal mechanical disruption and reduced washing steps, potentially enhancing recovery and purity. The system's dual-function head performs both liquid transfer and magnetic bead manipulation. All steps are controlled by software, automating the entire protocol to improve reproducibility and minimize manual intervention. The instrument dimensions are 65.5 cm in width, 54.4 cm in depth, and 53.1 cm in height, and it weighs 1.93 kg.
