Description

The Eppendorf Model 5424 is a benchtop microcentrifuge capable of processing a full load of 24 tubes sized 1.5 or 2.0 ml. It provides a broad operational speed range, from 100 to 15,000 rpm, which corresponds to a maximum relative centrifugal force of 21,130 x g. This is a non-refrigerated model. Engineered for user convenience, the device features a quiet OptiBowl design that reduces noise even with the rotor lid open. The lid itself closes with a soft-touch mechanism and is set to open automatically at the end of a run for quick sample access and to prevent heat buildup. Speed is indicated on a digital display. Operational controls include a SOFT-brake for gentle deceleration, a short-spin function, and an adjustable audible alarm that can be muted. Users can select between two control panel types: a rotary knob for fast adjustments or a flat, easy-to-clean keypad. The centrifuge is supplied with a standard 24-place aerosol-tight rotor. For specialized applications, optional rotors are offered, including an 18-place rotor for spin columns, a rotor for PCR strips, and a PTFE-coated rotor for chemical resistance. The instrument is covered by a two-year warranty.
