Description
The Echo MS+ system from SCIEX is an integrated platform that merges acoustic liquid handling with mass spectrometry, a technology known as Acoustic Ejection Mass Spectrometry (AEMS). This combination enables direct, high-speed analysis of samples from source wells, bypassing the need for liquid chromatography separation and dramatically increasing throughput. The system can analyze samples at rates of up to three per second in a multiplexed configuration or one sample per second in a sequential, well-to-well mode. At its core is a SCIEX mass spectrometer, which can be configured with either a triple quadrupole or a time-of-flight (TOF) mass analyzer for targeted quantitative analysis or broad-spectrum qualitative work, respectively. Sample ionization is accomplished via electrospray ionization (ESI). The platform is engineered for applications requiring rapid screening, such as drug discovery, where it provides sensitive and reproducible quantitative data from complex biological matrices.
