Echo 525 Acoustic Liquid Handler
Manufacturer: Beckman Coulter Life Sciences
SKU: Echo 525
Description
Beckman Coulter's Echo 525 is a non-contact liquid handler that uses acoustic energy to transfer precise droplets of aqueous reagents. By employing focused sound waves to eject liquid from a source well, the system eliminates physical contact between the instrument and the sample. This approach avoids potential issues such as cross-contamination, carryover, or compound leaching associated with traditional pipette tips. The instrument can transfer volumes ranging from 25 nanoliters to 5 microliters directly from any source location to any destination well within a microplate. This flexibility supports complex assay designs beyond standard plate layouts. Common applications include setting up PCR and qPCR reactions, gene synthesis workflows, and preparing samples for next-generation or Sanger sequencing. Compatible labware includes 384-well polypropylene plates, 384-well polypropylene plus plates, and dedicated reagent reservoirs. The system's dimensions are 53.9 cm in width, 68.3 cm in depth, and 92.5 cm in height. It is accompanied by software for designing and executing transfer protocols.
