Description
The CytoFLEX SRT from Beckman Coulter Life Sciences is a compact benchtop instrument for cell sorting applications. It provides a configurable flow cytometry platform with a core optical layout supporting violet, blue, yellow-green, and red lasers, which can be expanded via software to utilize up to 15 fluorescence detection channels. This modularity allows laboratories to start with a basic five-detector setup and add capabilities as needed. The system is designed for operational simplicity, with automated startup and stream maintenance procedures that enable it to be ready for sorting in less than half an hour. Sorting logic is managed through CytExpert software, which supports complex protocols including four-way population sorting and specialized functions for handling rare cell samples. Cells can be deposited with single-cell precision into various formats, such as 5 mL or 15 mL tubes, slides, or 48-, 96-, and 384-well microplates, facilitated by the instrument's Cyclone Movement System. The flow rate is adjustable from 10 to 100 µL/min. For biosafety, the sorter can be paired with an optional integrated cabinet or aerosol management unit. Remote diagnostics via BeckmanConnect provide support for troubleshooting and maintenance. The main instrument dimensions are 72.5 cm wide by 47.5 cm deep by 45 cm high, with a separate fluidics cart measuring 34.5 cm by 60 cm by 48.5 cm.
