CTO-40S HPLC/UHPLC Column Oven

Description

Designed with a narrow profile, the Shimadzu CTO-40S column oven provides thermal regulation for HPLC and UHPLC systems while conserving bench space. It controls column temperature within a range of 10 to 85 degrees Celsius, promoting analytical consistency. The compact external dimensions are 130 mm wide, 500 mm deep, and 553 mm high. Internally, the chamber can hold a configuration of up to six columns of 100 mm length or three columns of 300 mm length. A significant functional aspect is its support for complex temperature programming, allowing for sequences of up to 320 steps, which can be executed either independently or under the control of a chromatography data system. The oven facilitates method development through optional configurations, such as the integration of a switching valve for selecting between two columns. It can also mount an additional valve to divert flow to ancillary instruments like a mass spectrometer. An optional preheating unit is available to raise the temperature of the incoming mobile phase and sample band to match the oven setpoint. Standard mounting provisions exist for one manual injector, two flow-channel selection valves, a gradient mixer, and a conductivity detector cell block. Safety is addressed with a dual-leak sensor system. The unit can interface with an optional column management device and features mixer recognition. It requires AC power, automatically switching between 100–120 V and 220–240 V, with a rating of 400 VA at 50/60 Hz.
