Description

The Shimadzu CTO-40C is a column oven engineered for high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC) systems. Its primary function is to provide accurate and stable thermal control for analytical columns, with an adjustable temperature range spanning from 10 to 100 degrees Celsius. Maintaining a consistent column temperature is critical for achieving reliable retention times and enhancing the repeatability of analytical results. This model offers substantial capacity, capable of housing either six columns up to 150 mm in length or three columns up to 300 mm long. This flexibility makes it applicable for laboratories engaged in high-throughput testing or extensive method development. The unit's design incorporates practical features for system integration, including support for mounting manual injectors, flow-channel selection valves, a gradient mixer, and detector cell blocks. A switching valve can be added to enable automated selection between multiple columns. For operational safety, it includes dual internal sensors to detect leaks from the mobile phase. An optional column management device can be connected to log usage data. The oven measures 260 mm in width, 500 mm in depth, and 415 mm in height. It operates on AC power, automatically accommodating input voltages of 100–120 V or 220–240 V, with a power consumption of 400 VA at 50/60 Hz.
