CRF/1 CO2 Reactivity Furnace

Description

The CRF/1 CO2 Reactivity Furnace, manufactured by Verder Scientific, is a laboratory furnace used for testing the reactivity of carbon anodes intended for aluminium production. It operates by exposing anode samples to controlled atmospheres of either carbon dioxide (CO₂) or air at temperatures up to 1000°C. The resulting mass loss of the sample under these conditions is measured to determine its reactivity, a critical property that influences consumption rates and performance in industrial electrolysis cells. The furnace is constructed to comply with standardized test methods, including those described in ISO 12981-1 and BS 6043-2.20.1. Its primary application is in quality control and research for the carbon and aluminium industries.
