Description

The Corning Costar 24-well plate is a sterile consumable designed for cell culture experiments where preventing cell adhesion to the plastic surface is a primary requirement. Its wells feature a covalently bonded hydrogel coating that creates a hydrophilic and neutrally charged environment. This surface modification effectively minimizes protein adsorption, thereby inhibiting the attachment and spreading of anchorage-dependent cells. This characteristic makes the plate suitable for cultivating cells in suspension, such as in the formation of three-dimensional spheroids, embryoid bodies, or for maintaining certain stem cell populations. Constructed from clear polystyrene with a flat bottom, the plate allows for straightforward microscopic observation and imaging of cultures. Each plate is supplied sterile and sealed in an individual wrapper to preserve its aseptic condition until it is ready for use in a laminar flow hood.
