Description

Engineered for high-throughput screening applications, the Corning Elplasia 384-well microplate facilitates the generation of spheroids in a miniaturized format. It utilizes a square well geometry, combining black walls with a clear optical bottom suitable for absorbance, fluorescence, and microscopy-based assays. The microcavity surface in each well undergoes a plasma treatment, which creates a hydrophilic, cell-repellent environment. This treatment discourages cell attachment to the plastic, instead encouraging cells to self-assemble into three-dimensional aggregates. A lid is supplied to minimize contamination and media evaporation. This plate is designed to enable the formation of multiple spheroids per well using a simplified, scaffold-free methodology, potentially increasing efficiency and data points in experiments such as compound library screening or toxicity testing.
