Optimized for the 96-well plate format, the Corning CoolRack XT PCR96 securely holds twelve individual 8-well strips. This design allows researchers to work with a full plate's complement of samples in a modular fashion, which is advantageous when different strips contain unique reaction components. The rack provides active cooling through a phase-change material sealed inside its aluminum body. After being conditioned in a freezer, the unit maintains a consistently low temperature on the benchtop, helping to preserve the activity of thermolabile enzymes and other sensitive reagents during experimental setup. The anodized aluminum surface is chemically resistant and easy to decontaminate. This tool is commonly used for setting up PCR, reverse transcription, and other enzymatic assays.
