Corning provides this microplate as a single, sterile unit packaged in its own protective wrap. The plate consists of 96 clear polystyrene wells with a flat-bottom design. The wells have a total holding capacity of 360 µL, and a working volume between 75 and 200 µL is commonly used. The polystyrene has undergone a surface modification process for tissue culture, which alters its properties to encourage cell attachment and growth, making it applicable for culturing adherent cells. A dedicated lid is included. The primary feature of this product is its individual wrapping, which preserves sterility for each plate independently. This packaging method is advantageous for laboratories that use plates sporadically, require guaranteed sterility for each new plate opened, or need to prevent potential cross-contamination between plates during storage.
