The contrAA® 800 D is a high-resolution continuum source atomic absorption spectrometer that consolidates multiple atomization techniques into one automated benchtop instrument. It employs a single high-intensity xenon short-arc lamp to emit a continuum spectrum, allowing access to any analytical line within its range without requiring traditional hollow cathode lamps. This design facilitates both sequential and simultaneous multi-element analysis from a single sample introduction. This system integrates flame atomization, graphite furnace analysis, and hydride generation, including specialized vapor techniques, within a unified platform. An automated atomizer exchanger enables transitions between these methods without manual reconfiguration. For graphite furnace operation, features such as automated two-dimensional alignment and optimized drying protocols are included to enhance reproducibility and analysis speed. The instrument's continuum source technology provides inherent background correction across the full wavelength spectrum, managed via a high-resolution double monochromator.
