Cole-Parmer UV Transilluminator, 25W, 365nm, 20x40cm Filter; 115V

Manufacturer: Cole-Parmer

Description

This Cole-Parmer transilluminator generates long-wave ultraviolet light at a wavelength of 365 nm from a 25-watt source. It is designed for the visualization of fluorescent dyes and stains in samples after electrophoresis. The instrument offers a larger viewing surface than many standard models, with a field of view measuring 20 by 40 centimeters. This size can accommodate larger gels or allow for the simultaneous analysis of multiple samples. A protective filter is incorporated to block most UV radiation from reaching the user while transmitting the specific wavelength needed for sample excitation. The 365 nm wavelength is particularly suitable for dyes like SYBR Safe and can also be used for visualizing protein gels stained with Coomassie or for other fluorescence-based applications. Operating on 115V power, it serves as a standard tool in genetics, biochemistry, and forensic laboratories for analyzing electrophoretic gels.
