Description

The CELLSPIN from PFEIFFER is a platform shaker designed for cultivating cells in spinner flasks. The unit can accommodate up to four flasks simultaneously, with each stirring position operating independently to handle different flask sizes. A dedicated range of CELLSPIN spinner flasks is available in capacities of 100 ml, 250 ml, 500 ml, and 1000 ml. An optional conversion kit allows the system to be adapted for use with other impeller-type flasks. The system offers precise control over stirring parameters. The speed is adjustable from 5 to 75 rpm, with fine increments available at the lower end of the range. It also allows for the programming of pause intervals and a pendular motion that periodically reverses the rotation direction to aid mixing. The design of the CELLSPIN spinner flasks emphasizes gentle culture conditions. They feature a high surface-to-volume ratio intended to promote gas exchange. Stirring is achieved via two glass pendula, a mechanism designed to minimize shear stress while ensuring consistent mixing. The stirring platform is constructed to isolate motor heat, preventing its transfer to the cell suspension and supporting the stable cultivation of sensitive cell lines.
