BioLector XT Microbioreactor
Manufacturer: Beckman Coulter Life Sciences
SKU: BioLector XT
Description
The BioLector XT is a microbioreactor system configured for high-throughput microbial cultivation. It employs a standard 48-well microtiter plate, where each well serves as an independent bioreactor vessel with a working volume adjustable between 800 and 2400 µL. A central capability is the continuous, non-invasive optical monitoring of cultivation parameters. Integrated sensors allow for the real-time measurement of biomass, pH, dissolved oxygen, and fluorescence without requiring manual sampling. The system accommodates aerobic, anaerobic, and phototrophic culture types. For process control, it uses single-use plates with embedded microfluidics to enable automated pH adjustment and nutrient feeding. Environmental control includes precise temperature regulation from 10°C to 50°C, with the capability to cool to a minimum of 8°C below ambient temperature, and orbital shaking at speeds ranging from 100 to 1500 rpm. The instrument's physical footprint measures 797 mm in width, 520 mm in depth, and 522 mm in height. This automation of monitoring and control functions is intended to minimize manual intervention and improve experimental consistency in applications such as strain screening and bioprocess development.
