Description
Shimadzu's Benchtop MALDI Imaging Kit is an accessory package that adds spatial molecular imaging functionality to compatible benchtop MALDI-TOF mass spectrometer systems. It enables the direct analysis and mapping of biomolecules, such as lipids and proteins, from tissue sections or other sample surfaces. The kit includes specialized hardware and software, with IonView software providing a guided workflow for image acquisition, data processing, and visualization, including features for spectral display and image overlays. A key performance aspect is scanning speed, facilitated by a 200 Hz laser and fast stage mechanics, which can achieve acquisition rates of up to 15 pixels per second. Under typical conditions, the system can measure an area comprising 25,600 pixels in approximately 3.5 hours. The kit contents support the complete imaging process and include items such as conductive glass slides, a slide holder, reusable metal slides, a sample mask, and a carrier for optical scanning prior to MS analysis.
