Description

The BeNano 180 Zeta Max is an integrated instrument for the comprehensive characterization of nanoparticles and colloidal dispersions. It utilizes dynamic light scattering (DLS) with a 173° backscatter detection angle to measure particle size across a broad range from 0.3 nanometers to 15 micrometers. For determining zeta potential, an indicator of particle surface charge and dispersion stability, the system employs the Phase Analysis Light Scattering (PALS) technique. The instrument is equipped with a 50 mW, 671 nm solid-state laser (Class 1) as its light source and an avalanche photodiode (APD) detector. It operates with very small sample volumes, requiring a minimum of 3 microliters and accommodating up to 1 milliliter. Additional analytical capabilities include the determination of molecular weight, sample concentration, and refractive index. The temperature of the sample cell can be programmatically controlled from -15°C to 120°C. The system can also perform size analysis based on sedimentation principles. This combination of features in a single platform supports research and quality control in fields such as nanotechnology, pharmaceutical development, and advanced materials science.
