BELMASS II Quadrupole Mass Spectrometer

Manufacturer: Verder Scientific

SKU: BELMASS II

Description

The BELMASS II from Verder Scientific is a benchtop quadrupole mass spectrometer (QMS) for the qualitative and quantitative analysis of gases and vapors. The instrument operates by ionizing sample molecules and filtering the resulting ions based on their mass-to-charge ratio (m/z) using a set of four parallel rods with applied electric fields. A detector then measures ion intensity to generate a mass spectrum. It is equipped with a built-in vacuum pump and a heated transfer line to prevent sample condensation, facilitating the analysis of vapor-phase components from liquids or solids. A primary application is serving as a detector for other analytical systems, such as the BELCAT II catalyst analyzer. In such couplings, it can identify and quantify specific gas species released during temperature-programmed experiments or monitor gas mixture breakthrough curves. It is used in the characterization of materials including catalysts, chemicals, polymers, pharmaceuticals, foodstuffs, and building materials.
