The BD Rhapsody system is a platform for high-throughput molecular profiling at the single-cell level. It is designed to capture and analyze thousands of individual cells in parallel to explore cellular diversity within complex samples like dissociated tissues or immune cells. The methodology is based on isolating single cells in microwells and labeling their molecular contents with unique barcodes. This approach supports various analytical applications, including whole transcriptome analysis, targeted mRNA expression studies, and immune repertoire profiling. The use of unique molecular identifiers (UMIs) aids in reducing amplification noise and enables digital counting for accurate quantification of transcripts, including those expressed at low levels.
