BD Phoenix™ Automated Microbiology System
Manufacturer: BD Diagnostics
SKU: 448100
Description
The BD Phoenix system is an automated platform for identifying microorganisms and determining their antibiotic susceptibility. It utilizes a consolidated panel design where a single sealed unit, barcoded for tracking, is used for both identification (ID) and minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) testing. The sample preparation involves a pour-and-cap method that eliminates off-line reagent additions. After scanning, the panel is loaded directly into the instrument, removing manual data entry steps and reducing potential for error. The system can process a range of sample volumes, from 1 to 100 panels, and supports various panel types including combination ID/MIC, ID-only, MIC-only, as well as specialized panels for Streptococci and yeast. Its software is designed to integrate with laboratory information systems (LIS) for reporting and can connect with other BD diagnostic instruments, aiming to streamline workflow and enhance laboratory productivity in clinical microbiology.
