Description

CYTENA's B.SIGHT™ platform automates the isolation of individual microbial cells for clonal population generation. It combines optical imaging with a gentle, pressure-based dispensing mechanism to identify and deposit single bacterial or yeast cells directly into wells of standard 96- or 384-well microplates. The system dispenses a volume of approximately 50 pL per droplet. It is designed for high-throughput workflows, with analysis times of about 3 minutes for a 96-well plate and 8 minutes for a 384-well plate. Applications include synthetic biology, single bacteria or yeast isolation, microbiome research, and the isolation of anaerobic microorganisms. By ensuring the deposition of one cell per well, the platform provides verifiable clonality, which is critical for downstream processes like sequencing, screening, and strain development. The instrument can be integrated into larger automated workflows and is compatible with subsequent analytical steps, such as direct dispensing into PCR plates.
