Automated Hardness Tester
Manufacturer: TA Instruments – a division of Waters Corporation
Description
The Automated Hardness Tester from TA Instruments is designed for the standardized measurement of Shore A hardness in cured rubber materials. This fully programmable system automates the testing process in compliance with major international standards, including ASTM D2240, ISO 868, ISO 7619, DIN 53505, and relevant NF standards. For each sample, the instrument performs a user-defined number of individual point measurements. It then calculates and reports the statistical results, including the mean and median values from the data set, providing a comprehensive hardness profile. The device operates with a defined test force, utilizing a contact pressure of 12.5 N and a spring force of 8.065 N. By automating the procedure, this tester enhances reproducibility and efficiency in quality control and material characterization laboratories.
