AutoMATE II

Description

The AutoMATE II from Rigaku Corporation is an X-ray diffractometer system configured for residual stress and phase analysis measurements on large or heavy components. It is capable of handling samples weighing up to 30 kg with its standard manual Z stage, or 20 kg with an optional automated XYZ stage. The system employs a 3 kW sealed X-ray tube with a chromium target and is equipped with a D/teX Ultra 1000 detector. Its core mechanical component is a high-precision two-axis goniometer that positions the X-ray source and detector. When used with the automated stage, this goniometer enables scanning with minimum step increments of 0.1 microns, facilitating true micro-area analysis. The system supports automated mapping measurements with a teaching function for defining measurement patterns. Sample positioning is aided by a CCD camera integrated with a zoom microscope. The goniometer design allows for automatic switching between iso-inclination and side-inclination measurement methods without manual repositioning of the sample. An integrated safety enclosure with an interlock system secures the door when X-rays are active.
