ASPEC 271 System

Description

The ASPEC 271 System from Gilson is an automated liquid handling platform designed for solid-phase extraction (SPE) and related sample preparation tasks. It utilizes positive pressure extraction with a specialized sealing cap to enhance reproducibility across samples. A syringe pump ensures accurate volume dispensing. The system employs mobile rack technology, which supports multiple fraction elutions per sample and facilitates additional preparation steps following SPE. An optional dual syringe pump configuration allows the system to handle a broad volume range, extending down to 10 µL, making it suitable for combined sample cleanup and liquid handling applications. Error handling is managed by a pressure-sensing module that monitors each fluid path for issues like high cartridge pressure or clogged lines. Optional jet wash rinse stations help minimize carryover and cross-contamination. The system is controlled by TRILUTION® software, which enables various applications, including liquid-liquid extraction (LLE) and SPE, on a single platform. Users can process samples in batch or sequential modes to optimize throughput. The standard configuration includes racks for 1, 3, and 6 mL SPE cartridges, with a bed capacity for processing up to 144 samples unattended. It supports multiple fraction elutions (up to nine with 1 mL cartridges) and multiple sequential extractions from a single sample. Eluates can be transferred into sealed injection vials or directly into an LC injection valve. The system provides access to five solvent reservoirs, and its single syringe pump can deliver air push from syringes or an external source. Its modular design accommodates a wide range of collection tubes, from 2 mL vials to 15 mL tubes (16 x 100 mm). An optional GX direct injection module allows for online injections onto HPLC or LC/MS systems.
