alphaCART – Mobile Raman System

Description

The alphaCART is a mobile, confocal Raman spectroscopy system from Oxford Instruments designed for analyzing samples in situ. Its portability allows it to be transported to locations where specimens cannot be moved to a conventional laboratory, such as large objects, fragile artifacts, or materials in secure enclosures. The system utilizes a fibre-coupled Raman probe that can be freely positioned. It offers high spectral and spatial resolution, along with confocal capabilities and strong signal sensitivity, enabling measurements to be taken through barriers like protective glass. A white-light illumination source and a colour video camera are integrated for sample survey and targeting. The system can be configured with different objectives, lasers, and spectrometers, and it operates across UV-VIS-NIR spectral bandwidths using CCD or EMCCD detectors. Optional features include a protective rolling flight case for transport, polarization-sensitive measurement capabilities, and compatibility with various upgrades and accessories.
