Description

Aldose Reductase is a purified enzyme preparation supplied by FUJIFILM Wako Chemicals U.S.A. Corporation. It is derived from human muscle cells and serves as a biochemical tool for research into the polyol pathway, particularly for studying the conversion of glucose to sorbitol. The enzyme has a specific activity ranging from 1.4 to 1.6 units per milligram of protein and is provided at a concentration of 1 unit per milliliter. Its molecular weight is approximately 36,000 Daltons. The preparation is dissolved in a storage buffer containing 5 mM DTT (dithiothreitol), 50% glycerol, and 50 mM sodium phosphate at pH 7.0 to maintain stability. The product is packaged as 0.4 units, suitable for use in enzymatic assays and investigative studies related to diabetic complications and metabolic disorders.
