AIMsight Infrared Microscope

Description

The AIMsight is an infrared microscope system from Shimadzu designed for Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) microanalysis. It integrates microscopy with spectroscopy to enable chemical identification and mapping of microscopic samples. The system employs 15x Cassegrain objective and condenser mirrors for infrared focusing. A key performance metric is its signal-to-noise ratio of 30,000:1, which contributes to high-quality spectral data from small sample areas. The instrument features a wide-field camera capable of observing sample areas up to 10 x 13 mm and zooming in on features as small as 30 x 40 micrometers. Automated functions, such as contaminant recognition and a tiling measurement mode, streamline analysis workflows for applications including microplastics identification, forensic investigation, and pharmaceutical quality control. The accompanying AMsolution software provides automated aperture setting, spectral library searching, and tools for length measurement and spectral diagnostics.
