Description

The Agilent BioTek Cytation 5 is an integrated instrument that merges automated digital microscopy with standard multimode microplate reading functions. This platform is designed to be configurable and upgradable to suit evolving laboratory needs. Its microscopy component provides imaging capabilities at magnifications up to 60x, supporting multiple modes including fluorescence, brightfield, phase contrast, and specialized high-contrast and color brightfield techniques. For detection, the system incorporates both filter-based and monochromator-based modules, enabling fluorescence, luminescence, and UV-Vis absorbance measurements across a spectral range of 200 to 850 nm. It accommodates a wide variety of plate formats, from 6-well to 1536-well plates. Applications are extensive, covering cell counting, viability, proliferation, cytotoxicity, live-cell imaging, and analysis of 3D cell cultures like spheroids. The entire system is operated through Agilent's Gen5 software, which provides a unified interface for instrument control, data acquisition, and advanced image and data analysis.
