8700 LDIR Chemical Imaging System

Description

The Agilent 8700 LDIR Chemical Imaging System utilizes Quantum Cascade Laser (QCL) technology for infrared spectral analysis and chemical imaging. A primary application is the analysis and identification of microplastic particles within environmental samples, such as water. The system automates workflows to locate, characterize, and identify particles from various sample matrices. It allows for surveying large sample areas and then examining regions of interest in greater detail without optical changes. Operation is managed through Agilent Clarity software, which supports automated, load-and-go methods. The QCL source and thermoelectrically cooled detectors eliminate the need for liquid nitrogen. An integrated ATR accessory enables further analysis of unknown particles without sample removal, and spectra can be compared against built-in libraries or exported.
