Description

The Shimadzu Co-Sense for BA is a two-dimensional high-performance liquid chromatography (2D-HPLC) system configured for the automated analysis of biological samples. It integrates online sample pretreatment with analytical separation, aiming to streamline workflows in bioanalysis for pharmacokinetics and clinical testing. A central component is the Shim-pack MAYI-ODS pretreatment column, which is designed to remove proteins from samples like plasma or serum. The system features a column-switching design and an online dilution bypass channel, which can automatically dilute concentrated samples, potentially eliminating manual dilution steps. It is equipped with detectors suitable for UV and LC-MS analysis. Enhancements to the autosampler, including specialized needle surface treatments, are implemented to minimize carryover between samples, a critical factor for achieving high sensitivity in subsequent LC-MS/MS detection. The system also provides precise temperature control for the pretreatment column to ensure analytical reproducibility.
