240Z AA Atomic Absorption Spectrometer

Description

The Agilent 240Z AA is a double-beam atomic absorption spectrometer configured for graphite furnace analysis. It utilizes Zeeman background correction to achieve high accuracy and low detection limits, making it suitable for trace metal analysis in food, environmental, and pharmaceutical samples. The instrument features a single light source and accommodates up to four fixed lamp positions, which can hold hollow cathode lamps or high-intensity UltrAA lamps for enhanced sensitivity. Lamp selection is automated. An integrated PSD120 autosampler is included for precise delivery of standards and samples to the graphite tube. The furnace employs a constant temperature zone design for consistent performance. Instrument software includes tools such as the SRM Wizard to simplify method development and a High Definition Tube-CAM to visually monitor the analysis inside the graphite tube. The system's background correction uses polynomial interpolation for improved accuracy. The spectrometer can be extended with a vapor generation accessory (VGA) to perform hydride generation techniques, allowing method validation and expanded analytical capabilities.
